We are more than happy to introduce you to eight professors from Aachen and around the world who will contribute to our 5th Aachen International Summer School in Research Methods and Data Science. Almut Balleer (RWTH)
Almut Balleer was born in 1979. She gained her doctoral degree from the University of Bonn, also visiting the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona on a Marie Curie research grant from the European Doctoral Program. In 2009 she became Assistant Professor at the Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) at Stockholm University, where she has been a research affiliate since 2015. She has also been a research professor with the Ifo Institute in Munich since 2013.In September 2012 she became Professor of Empirical Economic Research in the School of Business and Economics at RWTH Aachen University.
Christoph Breidbach (Universität Melbourne)
Christoph Breidbach is a Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Department of Computing and Information Systems. Prior to joining the University of Melbourne, he was a Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of California, Merced, where he also held visiting positions at the Indian School of Business and IBM’s Almaden Research Center. His research addresses questions related to digital service innovation and transformation, and he has published widely on topics ranging from service experience, service innovation to engagement platforms in the Journal of Service Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Managing Service Quality, The Service Industries Journal, Service Science, Marketing Theory, and other outlets. He also served on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Service Research, the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and holds a leadership position with the SIG Services at the Association for Information Systems.
Léo-Paul Dana (Montpellier Business School)
Léo-Paul Dana is Senior Advisor to the World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises. He has been tenured at the University of Canterbury since 1999. He contributed to Groupe Sup de Co Montpellier Business Schoolprofessor since 2007 and joined the permanent faculty in 2013 as a full professor of Entrepreneurship. He has an extensive research background studying entrepreneurship in different cultures and several of his papers appeared in major entrepreneurship journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice or Journal of Small Business Management. Dana is the Founder of the Journal of International Entrepreneurship, and has produced 15 educational documentary films. Current research interest: Sustainable development and social issues in expanding the oil and gas activities in the Arctic.
Baris Pascal Güntürkün (WU Wien)
Dr. Pascal Güntürkün is Assistant Professor at the Department of Marketing at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. He received his doctoral degree in business administration from the Ruhr-University of Bochum, Germany. He was a doctoral student and post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of Sales & Marketing at the Ruhr-University of Bochum prior to joining WU Vienna. His general research interests is to use quantitative empirical methods to generate consumer insights that inform marketing communication and strategy. He has specific expertise in consumer engagement in coproduction processes, strategic customer relationship management, employer branding, and corporate social responsibility. His recent research projects focus on customer perceptions of coproduction processes and offerings, the tension between corporate social responsibility and irresponsibility, and marketing strategies to improve customer-company relationships.
Özgür Gürerk University of Erfurt
Özgür Gürerk was born in Erzurum (Turkey) in 1975. Since 1991, he has lived in Germany. He studied economics at the University of Bonn. He worked as a student assistant to Prof. Dr. Reinhard Selten at the Bonn Laboratory for Experimental Economics. In 2001, he was appointed as a research assistant and the manager of the Laboratory for Experimental Economics at the University of Erfurt, where he gained his doctoral degree - Dr.rer.pol. - in 2007. In 2011, he completed a research stay at the University of Nottingham, England. In May 2013, he joined RWTH Aachen University as Professor of Experimental Economics. Since April 2019 he is working again in Erfurt.
Peter Letmathe (RWTH)
Peter Letmathe studied business administration at the University of Bielefeld. He received his PhD (awarded with summa cum laude) from University GH Essen and completed his postdoctoral stage with his habilitation on “Flexible Standardization” at Ruhr-University Bochum. He became appointed Professor of Environmental and Technology Management at the University of Bayreuth. Between 2002 and 2011 he held the chair of Value Chain Management. Since October 2011 he has held the Chair of Management Accounting at RWTH Aachen University. He has had multiple international visiting professorships and practical experience of more than two years in the furniture industry and more than 50 projects with industrial firms.
Sven Mikolon (Imperial College London)
Dr. Sven Mikolon is Assistant Professor of Marketing at Imperial College Business School. He studied Business Administration and Economics at the Ruhr-University of Bochum (Germany) from where he also obtained his doctoral degree in business administration.
In his research Sven bridges the literature on organizational psychology with that on consumer behavior with a strong focus on the customer-frontline worker-interface and nonprofit marketing. His research in this domain has been published in top tier academic journals, such as the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Service Research, and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. His work has been featured by the Harvard Business Review. Sven is an editorial board member of the Journal of Organizational Behavior and acts as ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and for the Journal of Service Research.
Richard Weber (Universidad de Chile)
Dr. Richard Weber was born in Germany in 1960. He is Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the Universidad de Chile. He holds a Diplom degree in mathematics (1986) and a Master as well as a Ph.D. in operations research (1992) from RWTH Aachen University. His research interests are Data Mining, Dynamic Data Mining, Feature Selection, and Applications of Data Mining in the Financial Sector and in Adversarial Settings.
